STATEMENT OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE PANCYPRIAN FEDERATION OF LABOUR (PEO), 23rd MARCH 2021

The General Council of PEO convened on Monday 22nd March 2021 and discussed the situation as it is has evolved with regards labour and socio-economic issues and set out the main priorities of PEO.

The coronavirus pandemic and the health measures that have been taken for a year now have had a drastic impact on working people and society in general.

Measures now for a fairer distribution of the effects of the crisis and strengthening of social cohesion

PEO considers that the measures that have been announced recently, for sure provide some relief to those directly affected by the decrees, but they are not enough to adequately address the demands of today's harsh reality thousands of households face today.

STATEMENT OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF THE PANCYPRIAN FEDERATION OF LABOUR (PEO) , 21st of December 2020

The Executive Council of PEO in its session which convened on Monday 21st December 2020, made an assessment of the situation regarding labour and socio-economic issues and set out the priorities and objectives of PEO for 2021.

Developments in the current year with regards socio-economic issues were determined by the coronavirus pandemic which resulted in a significant reduction in economic activity and the suspension of work for hundreds of thousands of workers.

PEO CYPRUS MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES ON THE LOSS OF COMRADE RAMON CARDONA NUEVO

It is with great sorrow that we have been informed about the loss of comrade Ramon Cardona Nuevo.

Comrade Ramon was a committed militant fighter who carried out his tasks with efficiency and devotion, in favor of the international trade union movement and the workers struggles in every corner of the planet.

PANCYPRIAN FEDERATION OF LABOUR (PEO) ON THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE 29TH NOVEMBER

On the occasion of 29th November, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, PEO expresses its solidarity towards its heroic struggle and just demands for a free and independent Palestine.

The state of Israel, despite the decisions and resolutions of the UN, with the tolerance of the US and the use of force, continues provoking the death of civilians and colonalising Palestinian territories, while the erection of the racist wall remains a shame for humanity.

PEO CYPRUS MESSAGE OF SOLIDARITY TO PAME FOR THE 17 NOVEMBER EVENTS

The PEO denounces the violence exercised against PAME trade unionists and demonstrators who were taking part in the demonstration to honor 17 November 1973 student uprising when large numbers of security forces used chemicals and violently struck protesting workers, students and pensioners without any provocation whatsoever.

The Pancyprian Federation of Labour – PEO conveys the class solidarity and support of Cyprus workers to the working class of India on the General Strike on the 26th of November 2020.

During the last years the working class in India, in a spirit of unity, has been resisting against the neoliberal policies of Modi’s governance by organizing massive and militant struggles and mobilizations.
